Umpire Accelerated Course

At the end of this five virtual session and one on field session we expect you to be certified a Level 2.3.  We hope that after taking this course that you are inspired to umpire for your local association!  

DATES

• As you know, the five virtual sessions will be held on      March 5, 12 and April 2, 16, 30.
• Each online session runs from 7-9:30 pm
• We realize that March 12 is the first weekend of March      Break.  As such, for those that are unable to attend that night, we      are planning on running a make up session on March 26.
• We have two on field sessions set up with more to be      added shortly now that we have an idea where participants are from

INSTRUCTORS

• There will be four Baseball Ontario Instructors each week
• Blair Hains, Chris Wilhelm and Justin Snively-Topping      will teach each week with a guest instructor joining the crew
• All instructors are Baseball Canada and Baseball      Ontario Master or Senior Course Conductors with many national      championships under their belt

TEACHING METHODS

• During the online session, we will use a variety of      teaching techniques, including videos, polling, direct teaching and group      work
• This course is participatory – you will get more out of      it, by putting more into it!
• There will also be a limited amount of “homework” each      week

TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS

• It is important that you have a good internet      connection
• Please join from a laptop – there will be materials      that are portrayed on the screen, including videos, text and presentations      that will not be able to be seen on a small screen
• You will at times be required to be on camera – please      make sure that your camera is working
• When      you login, please do so with your full name (first and last) and not with      a screen name of first name only

BEFORE WEEK 1

• You will receive an email on Sunday morning with Login      details for the clinic
• Be prepared to login a few minutes before the start of      the clinic
• Please take the opportunity before Sunday to review the pre-clinic material
